SECOND UPDATE: A report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department stated Friday that the incident Thursday involving two officers and a suspect being shot was a “friendly fire” incident. One officer was hit in the legs; the other higher. They’ve been treated and released; the suspect, identified only as a 29-year-old man, was still in the hospital as of Friday.
UPDATE: The two officers involved were treated for minor injuries and released. The identities of the officers or the suspect have not been revealed. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
Three people were injured – two of them police officers – in a shooting incident in Huntington Beach Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 7:08 a.m. in the area of Delaware Street and Utica Avenue, west of Beach Boulevard.
Police were responding to reports of a man slicing the tires of parked automobiles. The officers and a suspect were taken to area hospitals and the police were reported to be in stable condition. A knife was found at the scene, but the details of the incident are still unclear.
