Local runners excelled at Laguna Hills

Cross country season is underway and local teams are off and running (well).

In the Laguna Hills Invitational at Laguna Hills High School on Saturday, the junior girls team from Pacifica High placed second in Division 3. The Mariners also took fifth place in the three-mile freshman race.

Edison High’s boys’ team was eighth and Santiago’s boys’ team was 16th in Division 2 (three miles, freshman). In Division 3 for three miles, freshman), Rancho Alamitos took ninth and Pacifica 11th.

Huntington Beach took first in Division 1 (boys, three miles, freshman). In Division 2 (three miles, sophomore boys) Santiago was eighth and Edison 10th.

Division 3 for three miles Division 3 saw Rancho Alamitos take first, with Westminster second and Pacifica 10th. Division 3 for three miles, juniors, saw Pacifica take fifth, Ocean View eighth and Westminster ninth.

The three mile junior Division 1 race had Huntington Beach in sixth. The three mile senior Division 3 race saw Pacifica take fifth.

On the female side, in three mile senior Division 1 girls, La Quinta took eighth. In three mile senior Division 3, Ocean View took first and La Quinta second.

In three mile junior Division 3, Pacifica was second and Ocean View fourth. In three mile sophomore Division 2, Santiago was fifth and Westminster sixth.

The three mile freshman race for Division 1 saw Huntington Beach in eighth.
