The Anaheim Ducks got the 2017-18 NHL season off to a promising start Thursday with a come-from-behind 5-4 win over the Arizona Coyotes at Honda Center. Not only did they rally from a three-goal deficit to win the game, but were heartened by the two goals scored by Corey Perry, hoping to bounce back from an off-season last year.
Trailing 4-1 in the second period, the Ducks rallied with goals by Perry, Ondrej Kase, Andrew Cogliano and Rickard Rakell. John Gibson had 26 saves in goal for Anaheim.
The Ducks are next in action on Saturday hosting the Philadelphia Flyers (1-1) in Anaheim.
Mariners edge Cypress in water polo
The Pacifica High boy’s water polo team won its Empire League opener 9-8 Tuesday against rival Cypress High School in the Centurion pool. Senior Bradley Clinton scored the winning goal for the Mariners who are and ranked second in CIF-SS Division 5.
The M’s followed up that with an 18-5 rout of Western on Thursday to improve their overall record to 15-4. Pacifica is next in action on Tuesday visiting Downey (6-13) High.
