You set your trash cans out at the curb that night, right on schedule, for pickup the next morning. And right on schedule, scavengers show up, rustling through the recycling bin, looking for aluminum cans, plastic bottles and you don’t know what. The dogs start barking furiously.

Sound familiar? A discussion of the theft and scavenging of recycling materials from residential garbage containers is on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of the Garden Grove City Council.

Also on the agenda is a public hearing on an update of the municipal code relating to entertainment, alcohol sales and setbacks in the civic center area around Euclid Street, north of Garden Grove Boulevard.

The council meets in its chambers in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave. The next regular meeting is set for Nov. 28.
