A 71-year-old man died after being struck by a car Friday night while walking across a street in Garden Grove. According to Lt. Carl Whitney of the GGPD, the incident took place on Brookhurst Street, just north of Bixby Avenue a few minutes before 6 p.m.
Investigators determined that the pedestrian was crossing Brookhurst eastbound in an area not marked as a crosswalk. While in the left southbound lane, the man was hit by a blue 2004 Infiniti G35, driven by a 22-year-old man.
The pedestrian was treated at the scene by the Garden Grove Fire Department, but died of his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle remained and cooperated with investigators. It doesn’t appear the drugs or alcohol were involved in connection with the motorist, according to police. The investigation is continuing.
Witnesses are asked to call the GGPD’s Accident Investigation Unit at (714) 741-5823.

Very sad for both parties involved. Garden Grove has dark streets.
