Gibson’s goaltending helps in 4-0 win

ANAHEIM DUCKS defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-0 on Saturday.

Led by John Gibson’s 29 saves the Anaheim Ducks got their first-ever shutout win in Pittsburgh Saturday night, shutting out the Penguins 4-0 for their second consecutive victory. The win improved the team’s record to 16-13-8, good for a tie for third place in the NHL Pacific Division.

Ondrej Kase, Rickard Rakell, Andrew Cogliano and Cam Fowler scored for Anaheim as the team played its final game before a brief Christmas holiday break. The Ducks are back in action on Wednesday when they host the Las Vegas Golden Knights (23-9-3) at Honda Center.

“This was definitely more special, especially because the last few times didn’t work out that good,” said Gibson. “I wanted to make sure I was on my game tonight. The team really played well in front of me.”
