Car hits fire hydrant and then power pole

TWO PEOPLE were injured in Garden Grove Monday morning when their auto struck a fire hydrant and then a power pole.

A car crashed first into a fire hydrant and then a power pole Monday morning in Garden Grove, sending two people to the hospital.

According to Sgt. Mario Martinez of the GGPD, the incident took place on Garden Grove Boulevard east of Beach Boulevard around 10:40 a.m.

The sedan was so damaged that it took firefighters over 30 minutes to extract the male driver and the female passenger from the vehicle. They were taken by ambulance to UCI Medical Center in Orange where they were listed in stable condition.

Witnesses told police the vehicle was traveling westbound on Garden Grove Boulevard when it crossed over into the eastbound lanes before crashing into the hydrant.

The crash is still under investigation. Witnesses are asked to call the GGPD and Traffic Investigator Royce Wimmer at (714) 741-5823.
