Another slow weekend what with the Super Bowl sucking all of the oxygen out of room of entertainment for the nation as well as the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster area.
The only major release this week is “Winchester,” a film about the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose. It was under construction for decades under the order of the heiress (Helen Mirren) of the Winchester gun fortune. A suspense-thriller rated PG-13.
All six of our local live theaters are dark this weekend. Next up are “Bullets Over Broadway” (Gem Theater in Garden Grove), opening on Feb. 22 and “Glass Menagerie” at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, opening Feb. 16, and “42nd Street” at the Rose Center Theater in Westminster, also opening on Feb. 16.
The big event this weekend is staying home and watching the Super Bowl. But if you do choose to celebrate with an adult refreshment at one of our local restaurants, clubs or breweries, understand that police will be putting special effort and resources into DUI enforcement. Don’t spent Super Bowl night in jail or a hospital bed.
