Four locals win CIF-SS basketball games

FOUR LOCAL high school basketball teams won first round CIF-SS games on Wednesday.

Four local high school boys’ basketball teams won first round CIF-SS games on Wednesday and will advance to the second round on Friday.

In Division 1, Edison – led by Spencer Serven’s 21 points – defeated Esperanza 86-62. In Division 3A, Marina defeated La Quinta 72-50. Jakob Alamudun scored 23 for the Vikings.

Orangewood Academy beat Chadwick 62-41 in 4A play. In Division 4AA, Santiago bested St. Margaret’s 71-45 behind 21 points by Ricky Briseno and 18 more by Chris Bermudez. Westminster, however, fell to Costa Mesa 82-59.

In 5AAA, Orange lost 54-48 to California Military.

Rancho Alamitos lost 9-1 to Pioneer in Division 7 girls’ water polo.
