An economic development update will highlight Wednesday’s meeting of the Westminster City Council.

The update from Assistant City Manager Chet Simmons will center on:

  • redevelopment of Westminster Mall
  • the “Block by Block” program designed to “focus attention and resources” on small sections of the city with focused code enforcement and building improvement grants and loans
  • retail attraction, to bring in new stores
  • updating technology, including a new website, which is expected to launch in late April or early May.

In other action on Wednesday, the council will be asked to approve three special events permits for Sid Goldstein Freedom Park on April 28 and 29 in observance of “Black April” – the fall of Saigon to Communist forces in April 1975 and the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam War Memorial.

The council meets in its chambers at 8200 Westminster Blvd. at 7 p.m.
