In the clash of two CIF-SS ranked teams, Rancho Alamitos romped past Bolsa Grande 11-1 in a Garden Grove League contest Tuesday at the Vaquero diamond.
The Vaqueros came into the game ranked 10th in Division 5, and the Matadors first in Division 7. The green-and-yellow (now 2-0 in league and 11-1 overall) scored in the first three innings to build a 10- 0 lead early. Juan Zazueta starred for the home team, giving up four hits, striking out 10 batters and walking just two batters.
Bolsa’s sole run came on a home run in the bottom of the sixth by Jared Sung. The Mats are now 1-1 in league and 6-2 overall.
Another GGL contest saw Garden Grove (1-1, 4-3) slam Los Amigos 10-2 (0-2, 0-7). Brennan Scully and Francisco Cadiz, who each had two hits and an RBI, paced the Argos at the plate.
In Westminster’s 6-3 loss to Segerstrom, the Lions got three hits and two RBIs from Josh Ochoa. WHS is 0-3 and 2-8 in Golden West League play.
