Argos stun Aztecs, Seahawks fall

LA QUINTA and Rancho Alamitos are now tied for first in the Garden Grove League baseball race after the Garden Grove Argonauts upset the Aztecs 2-0 on Tuesday.

With spring break behind them, many area high school baseball teams resumed play on Tuesday and the results impacted league standings in the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster area.

Garden Grove knocked off first place La Quinta 2-0, dropping the Aztecs into a tie for the Garden Grove League at 5-1 with Rancho Alamitos after the Vaqueros beat Los Amigos 3-2.

Logan Pactwa pitched seven shutout innings for Grove, giving up five hits and one walk while striking out four. The Argonauts’ win put them into third place in the GGL at 3-3.

Rancho and La Quinta will meet again on Tuesday, April 24 at the Aztec diamond.

Santiago posted its first league win of the season with an 8-3 victory over Bolsa Grande. Los Amigos and Bolsa are now tied for fourth at 2-4, while the Cavaliers remain in sixth at 1-5.

Zach Bickerman stood out for the Cavs in their win, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

A tie for first place in the Golden West League was created Tuesday when Segerstrom beat Ocean View 2-1. They are deadlocked at 4-2. Those two will meet again on Friday at the Jaguars’ field.
Also on Tuesday, Loara edged Orange 6-5. The loss dropped the Panthers to 3-3 in league and third place.
