Twenty students from Garden Grove Unified School District were honored by the local Garden Grove Masons during a special Public Schools Night awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 25.  Students were recognized for demonstrating determination and remaining dauntless in the face of adversity.  The event was held at the Garden Grove Masonic Lodge.

“We appreciate the support of the local masons and their thoughtfulness in recognizing students for demonstrating important life skills like grit and determination,” said Bob Harden, GGUSD Board of Education president.

The Masons recognize students from Garden Grove Unified School District each year as part of the group’s yearly observance of public schools.  Public Schools Month was launched by the Free and Accepted Masons of California in 1920.

Students who received the award include Chuong Tran and Emily Lopez from Alamitos Intermediate School; Jack Phillips and Lacie Vadkerti from Bell Intermediate School; Esteban Gonzalez and Leslie Lopez from Doig Intermediate School; Victor Castillo and Olivia Colon from Fitz Intermediate School; Jaime Torres and Kaitlin Hoang from Irvine Intermediate School; Thomas To and Fernanda Cueva from Jordan Intermediate School; Connor Greene and Citlali Zetina from Lake Intermediate School; Brian Nguyen and Giang-Thanh Nguyen from McGarvin Intermediate School; Hugo Berber and Mary Nguyen from Ralston Intermediate School and Angel Diaz and Desiree De La Riva from Walton Intermediate School.
