Justin Upton’s single in the bottom of the ninth drove in Chris Young with the winning run as the Los Angeles Angels defeated the Baltimore Orioles 3-2 Tuesday night in Anaheim.

The win lifted the Halos’ record to 17-12, still in third place in the American League West, two games out of first and a half-game out of second behind the Seattle Mariners.

The Angels built a 2-0 lead behind the strong start of Nick Tropeano, who pitched 6.1 sharp innings. He yielded just one hit and no runs, striking out five and walking two.

But the Orioles scored two in the top of the ninth to tie it up. Then in the Angels’ half of the inning Upton got his 11th walkoff hit for the Halos victory.

The win went to Cam Bedrosian (1-0) in relief.

Andrew Heaney (0-1) will make the start for the Angels Wednesday when they take on the Orioles again in Anaheim.
