Spring athletes, coach are All-CIF/SS

Five local athletes from schools in the Garden Grove-Huntington Beach-Westminster area were honored by the CIF-SS this week for baseball and softball.

In baseball, Joshua Mirada, a senior from Pacifica won all-Division 3 honors. In Division 5, the all-stars were Michael Nadeau, a junior from La Quinta High, and Nathan Alarcon, also a junior, from Rancho Alamitos.

In softball Alleen Bunker, senior infielder from Huntington Beach High was the sole D-1 selection. In D-6, Taryn Nadeau, a senior utility player from LQHS, was honored as all-CIF-SS.

Earlier this month, the boys’ volleyball CIF-SS picks included seven players from the GG-HB-W area, and one coach of the year.

In Division 1, the all-CIF picks were Mitch Bollinger and Grant Guinasso of Huntington Beach High. In Division 4, Rancho Alamitos’ Andy Nguyen was honored. In Division 5, it was four players from Garden Grove High: Janson Nguyen, Paseleo Gaula, Brandon Nguyen and Duy Lam. Argo coach Frankie Perales was named Coach of the Year.
