$14k damage in a Garden Grove fire

A fire at an “exterior structure” in Garden Grove did an estimated $14,000 worth of damage Saturday morning.

According to the Garden Grove Fire Department, the blaze in the 11700 block of Stephanie Lane – northeast of Brookhurst Street and Chapman Avenue – was reported before 8 a.m. Firefighters were to keep the fire from spreading to the adjacent home and other buildings.

There were no injuries reported.

Huntington Beach council to meet

The Huntington Beach City Council will meet on Monday with a light agenda.

Topping the items to be discussed or acted upon is a request by Councilman Patrick Brenden to direct city staff to return with a proposal for a moratorium on shared mobility devises – bike and scooter sharing services – and schedule a study session within 60 days.

The council meets at 6 p.m. in its chambers in the civic center at 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue).

Brookhurst Place Phase 1 opening set

The grand opening of Phase I of the Brookhurst Place mixed-use development in Garden Grove is set for Tuesday, July 10 at 3:30 p.m.

A reception and exhibit of future phases will be held in the community room of the housing component, 12857 Brookhurst St. The ribbon-cutting will be held around Building 1, 12801 Brookhurst St.

Brookhurst Place is the city’s largest development of it kind and will add commercial and other uses as it’s built out in the “Brookhurst triangle” formed by Garden Grove Boulevard, Brookhurst Way and Brookhurst Street.
