A homeowner armed with a pistol drove off two daylight burglars with gunfire Friday morning in Garden Grove.
According to Lt. Carl Whitney of the GGPD, the incident took place around 11:15 a.m. at a home in the 9500 block of Imperial Avenue, northeast of Magnolia and Trask avenues.
The homeowner called police to report an in-progress break-in. He said two black men broke a rear sliding glass door and entered the home, but he was armed with a handgun and confronted the intruders, firing several shots at them.
That led to them fleeing out of the rear yard of the home and driving away in what’s described as a older model silver Audi sedan with paper plates. It was driven by a third man.
It’s unknown if any of the suspects were hit by the gunshots. There have been no reports of gunshot victims from area hospitals.
GGPD has been contacted by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department regarding several burglaries in Yorba Linda with similar vehicle and suspects. Anyone with information on the burglaries is asked to call GGPD detectives at (714) 741-5704.
