Justin Upton singled in the seventh inning on Friday at the Big A to break up a no-hit bid by Houston Astros starter Dallas Keuchel as the Angels began the “second half” of the 2018 campaign with a 3-1 loss to the visitors from Texas.
His hit was one of only two for the home team as the Halos fell to 49-49 on the season. They now are 15 games out of first in the American League West and in fourth place. Keuchel went 7.2 innings, yielding two hits and one earned run as his record improve to 8-8.
Angel starter Tyler Skaggs went 6 innings, giving up six hits and three earned runs. He’s now 7-6.
On Saturday the Angels will start Nick Tropeano (3-4) against the Astros; Justin Verlander (9-5).
