Three candidates for West Grove seat

THREE PEOPLE have taken out papers for the West Grove council seat.

There’s a three-sided race – so far – shaping up for the District 1 seat on the Garden Grove City Council.

With incumbent Kris Beard withdrawing because of term limit issues, the field for the West Grove district position now consists of George Brietigam, chair of the city planning commission, Adam Jason Degner and Gerry Serrano as of Monday midday.

But that’s not all all, perhaps. Because an incumbent won’t be running, the filing of nomination papers has been extended to Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., according to the city clerk’s office.

Here is the latest lineup of qualified candidates for Garden Grove.

For mayor: Steve Jones (incumbent) and Don Taylor.

For city council: District 1: Brietigam, Degner, Serrano. District 3: Duy Nguyen, Thu-Ha Nguyen (incumbent). District 4: Joe Dovinh, Mark Paredes, Phat Bui (incumbent).

In Westminster, here’s the lineup as of Monday midday. As with Garden Grove, the filing period for two seats on the council is extended to Wednesday because incumbent Margie Rice is not running gain.

For mayor: Tri Ta  and Christopher Ochoa.

For city council (two seats): Tai Do, Mark Lawrence, Chi Charlie Nguyen, Frances Nguyen, Jamison Power, Anita Rice, Andy Quach, Amy West and Randy Young.
