Cyclist, 79, is killed in bike vs. auto crash

A 79-YEAR-OLD Anaheim man riding a bicycle died after being struck by an auto in Stanton.

The man killed in a traffic collision in Stanton has been identified. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, it was Tam Nguyen, 79, of Anaheim.

He had been riding an electric bicycle on Monday around 2 p.m. near the intersection of Cerritos Avenue and Magnolia Avenue when it was struck by a motor vehicle.

Nguyen was taken to a local hospital and was declared dead shortly after arrival. His identity was confirmed Tuesday evening.

Deputies believe the driver was not impaired. Cerritos Avenue was closed for about five hours while the OCSD Major Accident Reconstruction Team completed its investigation.
