Apartment fire is confined to one unit

THE HUNTINGTON BEACH Fire Department units responded to an apartment fire on Friday morning (HBFD photo).

One person was hospitalized early Friday morning after a fire in Huntington Beach at an apartment complex.

According to Keita Sato, public information officer for the HBFD, the alarm came in at 1:43 a.m. regarding a fire at the building at 16902 Lynn Ave. Units from the HBFD and Fountain Valley Fire Department responded.

As firefighters arrived, they saw smoke and flames coming from a second-story unit in the six-unit building. They were able to keep the fire from spreading to adjacent apartments.

One person was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange for evaluation. The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.
