Man held in car chase and crashes

A FLEEING SUSPECT was caught by a K-9 unit Friday morning, according to Garden Grove police.

A 29-year-old Westminster man was arrested Friday morning after a stakeout by Garden Grove police turned into a chase.

According to Sgt. Brian Dalton of the GGPD, the incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. in the area of the 400 block of south Euclid and First streets in Santa Ana, where plainclothes police were conducting surveillance on a stolen vehicle.

Upon the arrival of marked police units, the auto in question was driven away and a pursuit began. During the chase, the fleeing vehicle moved into a residential neighborhood and collided with several other automobiles.

The suspect – identified as Kenneth Durazo – fled on foot and was located by a police canine. He is being held on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon in the pursuit.

The investigation is being handled by the SAPD.
