Cam Fowler’s hat trick – including the game-winner in overtime – lifted the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets at Honda Center.
It was Fowler’s first career three-goal game.
The win snapped a seven-game winless streak, and squared the team’s record at 6-6-3, worth 15 points and fifth place in the NHL Pacific Division.
John Gibson had 24 saves in goal, improving his personal mark to 5-4-3.
Next up for the Ducks will be a game on Tuesday at the Staples Center against the Los Angeles Kings (4-8-1). On Wednesday they are back in Anaheim hosting Calgary Flames (9-5-1), the division leader.
Panthers winding up the season
Chapman University’s football team will hope to close out a winning season on Saturday when the Panthers (4-4) host LaVerne on campus for a 1 p.m. contest.
The Panthers are hoping to top a two-game skid. They lost 24-21 to Pomona-Pitzer on Oct. 27 and fell to Claremont 16-9.
Rustlers finish against Grossmont
The Golden West College football team will finish out the regular season on Saturday visiting Grossmont College. After defeating Southwestern 24-20 last week, the Rustlers are 5-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
