Castro leads Argos to tourney title

Sebastian Castro scored 18 points to lead the Garden Grove High boys’ basketball team to a 69-64 victory over Irvine High Saturday in the championship game of the Rancho Alamitos Tournament.

Castro was named MVP of the tournament for the Argonauts, who saw their record improve to 15-2. Drake Anzai scored 15 points in the championship final for Grove.

Ken Franks’ red-and-white squad will start Golden West League play on Jan. 4 visiting Westminster (5-9).

In other tournament action on Saturday, Edison (14-6) lost the title game of the Rancho Mirage Tournament, falling 59-54 to Palos Verdes. The Chargers will open play in the Surf League of the Sunset Conference hosting Marina (10-9).
