Have the Anaheim Ducks hit bottom yet? On Sunday night they may have, losing 4-0 to the Edmonton Oilers Sunday night at Honda Center and suffered their eighth straight defeat.
The loss dropped the Ducks to 19-17-7, still stuck at 45 points and fourth place in the NHL Pacific Division. The Oilers (20-19-3) moved within two points of the Orange County team.
“When you’re in a funk and in frustration mode, it’s the hardest thing in the world when you work, work, work and you don’t get results, and they score,” Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf said. “That’s how it felt tonight. We were working our tails off trying to get opportunities, and the one opportunity they get, they score. It’s something we have to get over. Get over that hurdle.”
Anaheim had 39 shots against the Oilers, but couldn’t convert any of them.
If the Ducks are going to finally bounce back, it may be on Wednesday at home against the Ottawa Senators (15-23-5), the last place team in the Atlantic Division and owner of the worst record in the league.
