Ducks lose 6th straight; CIF hoops action

THE ANAHEIM DUCKS lost their sixth straight game Thursday night; two local girls basketball teams posted first round CIF basketball wins.

The Anaheim Ducks suffered their sixth straight loss and 18th defeat in 20 games as they fell 4-0 to the Ottawa Senators on the road on Thursday.

Despite getting 45 shots on goal, the Orange County team couldn’t solve Ottawa goaltender Anders Nillson. With the loss, the Ducks’ record dropped to 21-25-9, good for 51 points.

That puts the team in a tie for sixth place in the eight-team NHL Pacific Division with the Arizona Coyotes. Even more ominous than that is the 3-2 shootout win by the Los Angeles Kings over the Philadelphia Flyers, which puts the Anaheim squad just one point out of last place.

The road trip will conclude on Saturday when the Ducks travel to Philadelphia to take on the Flyers (24-23-7, 55 points).
