It was a tough and tragic weekend for pedestrians in Huntington Beach.

In addition to a fatal incident early Sunday morning previously reported in The Tribune at Beach Boulevard near Warner Avenue that took the life of a 19-year-old man walking across the street, there was a similar incident late Saturday night.

According to Motor Sgt. Eric Warken of the HBPD, this accident was reported at 10:48 p.m. in the area of Beach Boulevard and Slater Avenue.

Arriving officers found the body of a woman lying in the street, with evident trauma to her head and body. She is 50 to 60 years old and was not identified.

She had been struck, police believe, by a 2010 Nissan Versa driven by a 47-year-old woman from Cypress.

A preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was crossing Beach outside the crosswalk, just south of the intersection. The vehicle was moving north, approaching the intersection with a green light when the collision occurred.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call HBPD traffic investigators at (714) 536-5670 or (714) 536-5666.
