Rancho Alamitos and Loara high school baseball teams remained undefeated in Garden Grove League play on Tuesday with impressive victories.

The Vaqueros (now 6-4 overall and 4-0 in GGL play) defeated La Quinta (5-4, 2-2) by the score of 7-2. Andy Pham pitched five innings for RAHS, giving up just two hits.

Loara (4-5, 3-0) bombarded Santiago (1-4, 0-4) 27-3 at the Cavalier diamond. Jacob Mendoza led the impressive Saxon hit parade with a double, two home runs and six RBIs. Patrick Monroe added a home run, three RBIs and five runs scored.

The Vaqueros and Saxons seem headed for a showdown on March 26 and 28 when they meet in that could be the week that will determine the GGL baseball title.

In another key game on Tuesday, nationally-ranked Cypress (11-1, 1-0) edged Pacifica (5-7, 0-1) by the score of 2-1 in the Empire League opener for both teams. The teams will clash again on Wednesday (today).

Softball action saw the powerful Huntington Beach High team overpower Corona del Mar 15-1 in a Sunset/Surf contest shortened to six innings by the lopsided score. Devyn Greer pitched three shutout innings for the Oilers, struck out seven batters, homered and drove in two runs. HBHS is now 1-0 in league and 5-0 overall.
