“Blowtorch bandit” suspects arrested

Two men were arrested early Saturday morning in Garden Grove for allegedly breaking into a beauty salon and then tunneling into an adjacent business.

According to Sgt. Erick Leyva, officers were dispatched at 1:50 a.m. to the Bebe salon at 14098 Brookhurst St. in response to a report of a burglary in progress. The business owner told police that a man had broken into the business and was still inside

Arriving officers detained one suspect who was walking away from the business and chased down a second man who attempted to flee on foot.

Inside the salon, officers noted that there was a tunnel dug into a “secondary business.” The suspects had allegedly used a blowtorch and other construction equipment to “enter and damage property within both businesses.” The two men were arrested and booked into Orange County Jail in Santa Ana.

They were identified as:

  • Travis Laguisan, 44, of Westminster
  • Anthony Fernandez, 40, of Westminster.
