The long-awaited report from special counsel Robert Mueller on foreign involvement in the 2016 presidential election did not find a conspiracy between Russia and the Donald Trump campaign.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who first received the report, made that statement Sunday. The report made no conclusions about whether Trump illegally obstructed justice. The president was not cleared of wrongdoing, but the special counsel did not have enough evidence to prosecute him.
“While this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him,” wrote Barr in a summary of Mueller’s report.
