There’s only one team in the NHL Pacific Division with a worse record than the Anaheim Ducks and that’s the Los Angeles Kings.
At Staples Center on Saturday, the home team was able to flip the script and defeat the Ducks 4-3 in a shootout. Anze Kopitar buried the only goal in the shootout to give the Kings the victory.
Scoring for the Ducks in regular time were Cam Fowler, Rickard Rakell – with a whack of an airborne puck – and Carter Rowney.
The Ducks are now 31-36-10, good for 72 points. The Kings go to 27-39-8 (62 points). Anaheim will be in Vancouver on Tuesday.
Oiler softball team is upset
The Huntington Beach High softball team – ranked second in the nation in one poll – was upset 13-3 by Mater Dei Catholic of Chula Vista on Saturday.
Saturday’s loss put the Oilers at 9-3 overall. Valerie Rudd went 2-for-3 for HBHS, hitting a double, driving in a run and stealing a base,
