The Los Angeles Angels lost the opener of the 2019 season on Thursday, falling 4-0 to the Athletics in Oakland. It was their sixth consecutive opening day defeat.
Halo starter Trevor Cahill pitched six innings, giving up four runs on six hits, two of them on home runs. The A’s outhit the Angels 7-3.
Mike Trout, Kole Calhoun and Tommy LaStella each had hits for the team. The Angels also drew three walks.
For Oakland, starter Mike Fiers allowed only one hit in six innings. He struck out two batters and walked three. Khris Davis and Marcus Semien went deep for the A’s.
The Angels will be back in action in Oakland on Friday for an afternoon game with Matt Harvey expected to make the start of the Orange County team.
