Pedestrian, 32, is struck and killed

A 32-YEAR-OLD man was fatally injured while walking in Huntington Beach late Thursday night (Shutterstock).

A 32-year-old pedestrian suffered fatal injuries when struck by a vehicle while he was crossing an intersection in Huntington Beach late Thursday night.

According to police, the incident took place in the area of Atlanta Avenue and Schooner Drive at about 11:55 p.m.

The injured man was found in the roadway with “significant injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not released pending notification of the next of kin.

A vehicle, a silver 1998 Toyota 4Runner, was found nearby with front-end damage to the bumper and hood. The driver, identified only as a male juvenile, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police do not believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the incident.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver was traveling west on Atlanta when his vehicle struck a pedestrian in the westbound lanes of Atlanta, west of the intersection with Schooner.
