Santana, Murphy go deep vs. Halos

KOLE CALHOUN hit the Angels’ only home run in their 6-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Friday.

A different kind of Santana wind blew into Anaheim on Friday, and it helped knock over the Los Angeles Angels 6-2. Domingo Santana hit two home runs, and Tom Murphy had a three-run dinger as the Seattle Mariners won again.

The loss dropped the Angels’ record to 30-34 placing them in fourth place in the American League West. They are 13.5 games back of the division-leading Houston Astros and 2.5 games back of the third place Oakland As.

Against the M’s, the Halos couldn’t muster much offense, just getting four hits and one home run, that by Kole Calhoun in the second inning for a brief early lead.

Andrew Heaney (0-1) worked 5.1 innings and trailed only 2-1 when Murphy unleaded his blast. He finished with five earned runs yielded on six hits, He struck out 10 and walked two.

The Halos will try to bounce back today (Saturday) sending Dillon Peters (0-0) to the mound against Seattle at 7 p.m.
