A 26-year-old man is dead after being struck by a truck while he was walking along the roadway in Huntington Beach.
According to the HBPD, the incident occurred around 5:07 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Magnolia Street and Adams Avenue. Arriving officers found a pedestrian lying in the street with “significant injuries.”
He was taken to a local trauma center, where he was pronounced dead. His name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
A vehicle with front-end damage to the bumper and hood was located nearby. The driver, a 62-year-old man from Huntington Beach, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
“It does not appear that alcohol or drugs are a factor at this time,” according to Sgt. Thoby Archer of the HBPD Traffic Unit.
Police believe that the vehicle – a 2004 black Ford Ranger – was traveling east on Adams when it struck a pedestrian in the eastbound lanes of Adams, west of Magnolia Street.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact HBPD accident investigators at (714) 536-5670 or (714) 536-5666.
