
A GARDEN GROVE man was arrested Tuesday for felony DUI and hit-and-run in connection with a car crash that left a 66-year-old woman in severe critical condition (Shutterstock).
A 66-year-old woman is in “severe critical condition” after being struck by an alleged drunk driver in Garden Grove on Tuesday evening.
According to Lt. Carl Whitney of the GGPD, the incident took place around 5:38 p.m. in the area of 8051 Larson Ave. The victim was standing to the left rear of her parked vehicle when a red Toyota Corolla traveling eastbound on Larson hit her, crushing her between both vehicles.
The driver then allegedly tried to flee the scene, but the Toyota struck a second parked vehicle about 70 feet east of the first crash. The suspect, identified as Andres Ramon Salas, 35, of Garden Grove, was arrested by police. He was taken to Orange County Jail and booked for felony DUI and felony hit-and-run.
The woman was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange.
Police believe that the suspect showed signs and symptoms of impairment, and had been drinking before the accident.
