Minivan hits building; man arrested

A SANTA ANA man was arrested Saturday night after his vehicle struck a building in Garden Grove (Shutterstock).

A minivan crashed into a commercial building in Garden Grove late Saturday night.

According to Sgt. Erick Levya of the GGPD, the incident took place at 14282 Brookhurst St., near 13th Street, at 11:13 p.m.

The driver of the van, Roberto Monroy Sanjuan, 23, a resident of Santa Ana, was arrested by police. Witnesses provided a description and Sanjuan – who had suffered minor injuries – was located nearby.

He was evaluated by officers who determined  he “showed signs of impairment.”

Police say the crash occurred at the Cafe Chi Chi. There were no other injuries and no passengers in the van.

An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the accident. Any witnesses who may have seen the accident are asked to call GGPD Traffic Investigator Paul Ashby at (714) 741-5823.
