Suspect, victims in killings are identified

The identity of the suspect in four stabbing murders in Garden and Santa Ana on Wednesday, as well as those of three of the victims, were revealed Thursday afternoon.


At a press conference on the steps of the Garden Grove police headquarters. Lt. Carl Whitney of the GGPD announced to the news media that the man arrested is Zachary Castaneda, 33, of Garden Grove.

One of the homicide victims in Garden Grove is Helmuth Hauprich, 62. of Garden Grove. The name of the other is being withheld.

In Santa Ana, the homicide victims were Pasqual Rioja, 39 (at subway restaurant) and Robert Ray Parker, 58 (security guard).

Those wounded were a 54-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man.
