An alleged gang member was arrested Monday night in Garden Grove after chases both in vehicles and on foot.

According to the GGPD, the incident took place in the area of Brookhurst Street and Garden Grove Boulevard when the driver of an automobile moving “recklessly” didn’t yield to officers seeking to make a traffic stop.

The vehicle struck a curb, and the driver led police on a short foot chase before being arrested. A passenger in the vehicle was not caught and an officer suffered “facial injuries” during the incident.

Police determined that the driver – not identified by police  – is a “documented gang member” and the vehicle which he was driving was stolen. A stolen firearm – which had been thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit – was located.

The suspect was arrested for driving under the influence, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen firearm and several other charges.
