Planning for bikeway, paths moving along

BIKEWAYS and pedestrian paths are part of the City of Garden Grove’s plan for “active transportation” in the downtown area (City of Garden Grove photo).

The weather’s so nice now, it’s a good time to take a walk or ride a bike. The City of Garden Grove is making plans to make it easy all-year around with the development of an Active Downtown Plan for the city’s historic core and civic center.

“Downtown is experiencing milestone economic growth and development,” according to Mayor Steve Jones. “To keep pace and foster a lively and vibrant downtown, we must find ways to better connect our residents and visitors to the area.”

The ADP is made possible through a Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant to use alternative forms of getting around to improve the economy and livability in the area of Garden Grove Boulevard and Euclid Street.

A master plan from 2016 has identified possible improvements for bikeways and walking routes and consultant KOA Corporation will evaluate that plan and develop “engineering-level” concepts for future grant funding applications.

  1. All right lanes should be SMT Slo Mo Transpo. Zero cars, except to turn.
Only bikes, cargo bikes, mopeds, golf carts, King Midget Cars (they don’t go over 30 mph, ha), skateboards … and in a perfect world, horses!

Build it, they will come to use it.

Why are we not allowed have golf carts to go to our local businesses for a few things?
Simple electric golf carts. So easy. Save the car cars for longer distances only.
Huge emissions reductions with simple Slo Mo Transpo policies. 😊👍 🐎
