Two from HB are held in kidnapping

TWO PEOPLE from Huntington Beach were among four people arrested this week i in connection with a kidnapping (Shutterstock).

Two people from Huntington Beach were among four people charged on Wednesday with felonies in connection with allegedly kidnapping an Irvine woman and holding her for ransom.

According to the Orange County District Attorney’s office, those charged were:

  • Ezra Schley, 71, of Huntington Beach
  • Yang “Rose” Wang, 37, of Huntington Beach
  • Reha Soylular, 54, of Newport Beach
  • George Armando Medrano, 34, of Norco.

They were each charged with one felony count of aggravated kidnapping for ransom and extortion, one felony count of residential burglary, and one felony count of attempted extortion.

Medrano was also charged with one felony count of being a felon in possession of ammunition and one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana for sale. Schley was charged with one misdemeanor charge of carrying a loaded firearm in public.

The defendants face a minimum of seven years and a maximum sentence of life if convicted on all charges. They are being held at Orange County Jail on $1 million bail.

They are accused of kidnapping Jane Doe from her Irvine apartment on Aug. 28 in an attempt to extort money from her husband and mother-in-law. They allegedly sent pictures of Doe help captive to her husband through a phone chatting app.

She was rescued by Irvine police after her mother-in-law called police and requested a welfare check.

  1. You need to change/correct your Subject. Only one woman was arrested was in Huntington Beach. Yang ‘Rose’ Wang is the only female of the four arrested.
