RANCHO ALAMITOS won a Garden Grove League opener Friday night with a 21-10 victory over Loara High at Monsoor Stadium (Shutterstock).

Rancho Alamitos got the inside track on a second consecutive Garden Grove League football crown Friday night with a 21-10 victory over Loara at Monsoor Stadium.

The Vaqueros improved their record to 4-2 overall with the win over the Aztecs (4-2) in the GGL opener for both teams.

Jason Nguyen led the Rancho offense with 106 yards rushing and a touchdown. Isaac Plata threw for 67 yards and another score.

In another GGL opener, La Quinta (2-4) squeezed by Bolsa Grande (1-5) by 6-0.

A Sunset League opener saw Edison (4-2) batter Los Alamitos 42-21 at Sheue Field. The Chargers benefitted from three Griffin turnovers. EHS quarterback Braeden Boyles passed for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth. Mike Walters ran for two TDs
