Tree-lighting comes to town on Dec. 2

CHRISTMAS TREE-LIGHTING event will be held on Dec. 2 in the Westminster Civic Center (Flickr).

The City of Westminster will ring in the holiday season with the annual Tree-Lighting Ceremony and Community Sing on Monday, Dec. 2 outdoors in the Westminster Civic Center, 8200 Westminster Blvd. at 6:30 p.m.

Featured this year will be a holiday greeting from Mayor Tri Ta and the Westminster City Council. Santa will stop by to help light the Christmas tree and will stay through the event to visit with the children.

There will be performances by community groups including Project S.H.U.E., the Westminster High School choir, Westminster Girl Scouts, Bethany Christian Academy Puppet Team and Choir, Westminster Chorale and Westminster School District’s West Arts Production.

The master of ceremonies, Tim Nelson, will end the program with a community sing-along. The Barber City Women’s Club will be selling hot dogs and refreshments.
