Turkey, football and a few showers, too

DANIEL CRAIG stars in “Knives Out”, a murder mystery in local cinemas this week.

Hey, you know what’s happening this week. The biggest and best is Thanksgiving, with the bird and the stuffing and the sugary goodies and the family and friends gathered around. The kids are out of school and there’s a lot of football to watch and comment about.

However there are a few other things happening this week, so …

WEATHER

It may be snowy and stormy in other parts of the nation, but West Orange County should have things a little bit better. Things will be mostly sunny today (Monday) and Tuesday, with rain likely Wednesday and Thursday. The skies should clear on Friday and be partly cloudy/sunny through the weekend. But, as always, these predictions can change.

MEETINGS

Government meetings this week will include:

  • Stanton City Council, Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
  • Garden Grove City Council, Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

ENTERTAINMENT

Most of our local live theaters will be dark this week, but “Beauty and the Beast” will open Friday at the Gem Theater on Main Street in Garden Grove.

Some new films will debut, such as  “Knives Out,” a mystery starring Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer and Jamie Lee Curtis.  It’s rated PG-13.

SPORTS

Marina High will play its CIF-SS Division 11 championship football game at its home stadium – Boswell Field on the Westminster High School campus – at 7 p.m against Muir High of Pasadena.

The Anaheim Ducks are back in town, hosting the New York Islanders today (Monday) at Honda Center at 7 p.m. On Wednesday they’ll zip off to Phoenix to take on the Arizona Coyotes, then return on Friday to Anaheim to play the Winnipeg Jets.
