An investigation is underway into the location of a missing Garden Grove couple that may be in Mexico.

According to Sgt. Mario Martinez of the GGPD, Maria Lopez and Jesus Guillen, who live in the 8000 block of MacKay Road, departed from their home in the early hours of Friday morning on what was supposed to be a “short turnaround trip” to Mexico to check on some property they owned.

When the couple did not return home later in the evening, the couple’s adult daughter became concerned and contacted police.

“All indications are that the couple is in Mexico,” according to Sgt. Martinez, but the family has been unable to contact them. The U.S. State Department, the FBI and Mexican authorities have been notified. GGPD detectives are also investigating their whereabouts.
