WEATHER: Nice weather all week long during the day, with highs ranging from 69 to 72. Nights will be cool and in the mid-40s to low-50s. A 20 percent chance of rain on Friday.
MEETINGS: A good week for civics students who need to get signed off on their assignment to attend a local government meeting.
The Garden Grove City Council meets on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and the Westminster City Council meets at 7 on Wednesday.
EVENTS: This Friday is Valentine’s Day, so you might want to visit the greeting card aisle and/or the See’s Candy. Abraham Lincoln’s birthday is Wednesday, but it’s celebrated on Monday, Feb. 17 as “Presidents’ Day.”
ENTERTAINMENT: Movies opening locally this week include:
- “Downhill.” Will Farrell ducks out when an avalanche threatens his family while on a ski trip. Can he win back the respect of his wife (Julia Louis Dreyfus)? Rated R.
- “Sonic the Hedgehog.” The animated kids’ show is a movie starring James Marsden and Jim Carrey. Rated PG.
SPORTS: This week the CIF-SS playoffs start for basketball, soccer and girls’ water polo.
Anaheim Ducks host the St. Louis Blues at Honda Center on Tuesday, then the Calgary Flames on Thursday.
