Cyclist dead after crash with car

A BICYCLIST died after his bike collided with an SUV late Friday night in Huntington Beach (Shutterstock).

A 62-year-old man died after his bicycle collided with a sport utility vehicle in Huntington Beach late Friday night.

According to Motor Sgt. Joshua Page of the HBPD, the incident took place around 10:22 p.m. in the area of Pacifica Coast Highway and Seapoint Street.

It appears that the collision was between a black 2014 Honda CRV driven by a 72-year-old Huntington Beach man and a transient and his bike.

The cyclist was riding his bicycle southbound on PCH when he crossed into the northbound lanes and was struck by the Honda, which was traveling north from Seapoint.

Police say the cyclist was not wearing a helmet and suffered fatal head injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorist remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The influence of alcohol or drugs is not suspected.
