Remember back in the drought days, when we prayed for rain? Well, if the forecasters are correct our wishes and hopes will be fulfilled this week, which may wreak havoc with all kinds of outdoor activities in the communities of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster.
WEATHER … Partly cloudy on Monday and then things get wet with rain forecast all week through Friday. Chance of rain 100 percent on Tuesday, down to 50 percent later. Highs will range from the low 70s to mid-60s. Wear a coat or jacket.
MEETINGS … Three councils will be meeting this week. Garden Grove and Stanton meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Westminster at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
ENTERTAINMENT … New films out in local cinemas this weekend will include …
- “Bloodshot.” Action/adventure film rated PG-13.
- “I Still Believe.” Life story of Christian singer Jeremy Camp. Rated PG.
- “The Hunt.” People hunting each other. Rated R.
Live theater choices include “Guys and Dolls” at the Gem Theatre in Garden Grove with performances Thursday through Sunday and “Acting: The First Six Lessons” at Golden West College’s Mainstage Theater, with performances Thursday through Sunday.
EVENTS … Candidate Meet and Greet for Westminster’s special election is Saturday from 1-4 p.m. at the Sid Goldstein Freedom Park, 14180 All American Way.
- Cherry Blossom Festival in Huntington Beach will be Friday through Sunday at HB’s Central Park. Hours are Friday 5-9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For ticket prices go to www.surfcityusa.com .
SPORTS … Anaheim Ducks will host the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday and the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday, both at 7 p.m. at the Honda Center … High school baseball and softball schedules will likely be disrupted by the rain this week. Contact the school for the latest information.
