The rate of increase of confirmed coronavirus cases in Orange County may be flattening out.

According to numbers released Friday by the Orange County Health Care Agency, just 57 new cases have been reported. That’s roughly the number from Thursday (56) and about half of the count (104) for Wednesday.

However, it’s not known whether the new figures represent an improvement in the situation or just the number of people tested for the virus.

The cumulative total of OC cases is now 711 with 13 deaths. No deaths were reported Friday. One hundred and three people are hospitalized, with 44 in intensive care units.

Irvine continues to be the city with the most confirmed cases with 69, followed by Newport Beach (67), Anaheim (63), Huntington Beach (48), Santa Ana (43) and Laguna Beach (29).

In The Tribune’s coverage area, Huntington Beach has 48 cases, Garden Grove 18, Westminster seven and Stanton one.
