Coronavirus count down, up, down

THE CORONAVIRUS daily count goes up and down in Orange County (Shutterstock).

The number of confirmed new coronavirus cases in Orange County continues to roller coaster up and down.

According to Sunday’s new count from the Orange County Health Care Agency, 49 cases were recorded, bringing the cumulative number to 834.

Sunday’s numbers follows a total of 75 on Saturday. That increase came after two days in the 50s.

There were no new deaths, of which there have been 14 in the county.

The OCHCA counted 137 hospitalized cases, up from 112 the day before. However, the number of coronavirus cases in intensive care units fell to 56 from 71.

Across the world, Johns Hopkins University is counting 1,263,976 cases. The U.S. has about one-fourth of those with 331,234, followed by Spain with 130,854, Italy with 128,948 and Germany with 100,024.

The total death count is 69,0982. Italy has the highest number at 15,887, followed by 12,518 deaths in Spain, 8,078 in France and 4,934 in Great Britain. Boris Johnson, the British prime minister has been admitted to a hospital with a coronavirus infection.
